Cornell v. Shady Grove?

I have had unsuccessful cycles at both Cornell and Shady Grove. Shady Grove actually told me at age 38 to use donor eggs even with no history of fertility problems, just over 35 and using anonymous donor sperm (a few months after that I had a natural IUI cycle-At NYU-and a healthy baby). I then had 2 IVF's at Cornell for baby # 2. I truly felt like it was a factory with no personal attention...causing much stress. One cycle landed me in the hospital for a burst follicle that the doctor forgot to remove during retrieval, causing extreme pain. I was still just a number, with no real individualized attention. My experience at Shady Grove has been similar, if not worse...I reluctantly went back there for convenience as I now live here but am from NYC. After wasting more than 4 years and going into extreme debt between these 2 clinics, I am now almost 44 and planning to do a donor egg cycle (the odds with my eggs are now against me at this age), at a less well known, but reputable clinic (for financial reasons). If I could do it over, I would only go to NYU or Columbia University. Several friends of mine have become pregnant at age 44, with healthy children through them. The doctors there seem more personable and consider each case on an individual basis. I love Dr. Licciardi at NYU and would highly reccommend him....he is the reason I have my beautiful son.

We did one IVF w/ Cornell and it was a failure. I was understimulated (not sure why), and felt they were not better than any avg clinic. We are now doing IUI w/shady grove after doing a 3 failed IUIs at GIVF. Lots of failures for us, not sure if we will ever "make it"

When I first researched where I was going to go, I got really into success rates but after some more careful research and speaking with my OB, I came to believe that the success rates, while important, do not show the whole picture of how sucessful YOUR treatment might be. Some clinics agree to take hard cases that others won't and still manage to have very good statistics. In the end, I chose to go to the Muasher Center and I had a very positive experience there (meaning, after 2 rounds I delivered a healthy baby--but also, more detailed diagnosis than I got from an SG consult). More hands-on than SG, the dr is better at difficult cases. If not Muasher, please consider other clinics here in the area, such as Genetics & IVF InstitGivfute.
Givf sucks I wouldn't encourage anyone to go there , they will take your money .

FYI - Shady Grove now has a new partnership with Colorado (the best fertility center in the country). Don't know details, but it's worth inquiring about. My RE is Dr. Widra in the DC office.

CCRM is great - but there is no one "best" clinic in the country. CCRM specializes in doing genetic testing of embryos, but if you don't produce many embryos - that may not help you. Despite SG's relationship with CCRM, our RE at SG encouraged us to go to Cornell instead of CCRM and said he thought Cornell would be better for our specific issues. We ended up having success at Cornell, although CCRM might have worked too (but CCRM would have been much more expensive).

i don't think CCRM in Colorado is the best clinic. No clinic is the best. Each has its strengths.
