Arlington kids accepted at TJ

Anonymous
There seems to be a person or a group of people that continuously make propaganda against AAP, TJ, and the like. they try to imply that parents are pressuring kids, parents are too full of themselves, programs are weak, and now they call the rep snotty. I don't know this person, and she may be really snotty in real life, but her advice was very straightforward.

I read these blogs in order to figure out what's to come, but it is not nice to have to read these posts over and over. I wish someone would clean them up.

+1 on the Arlington TJ parent rep being a kind and wonderful person, with much knowledge about TJ -- good and bad -- that she takes a lot time and effort to share with any parent of an admitted or current student who asks her.

And +1 on the message that on an anonymous board, it seems many people who haven't been to TJ, haven't had kids even apply to TJ, and probably have not even driven by TJ, seem to have strong opinions about the school that may or may not be based in any sort of reality.

The TJ PTSA has representatives for each region in the counties and cities served by TJ. If you know a student or family considering TJ that has any questions, please contact the TJ PTSA (contact information easy to find with Google). Someone will put you in touch with the right person.

There are plenty of people with connections to TJ who haven’t had kids there, and everyone in the area is subsidizing it one way or another. This “it’s a TJ thing, you wouldn’t understand” attitude rubs a lot of folks the wrong way, especially knowing there seem to many TJ parents and students who look down on everyone else based on their own misperceptions.

people need to understand that when TJ parents say "if you don't have a child at TJ, you don't know what TJ is truly like" -- it has nothing to do with TJ. TJ parents wouldn't claim to understand what it is like to have a child at a high school their child doesn't attend . . . so why do others think it's acceptable to say they know TJ if they don't have children there? The fact that you may be subsidizing it also doesn't mean you know what it's like to have a child go to school there (you can say you don't like subsidizing it -- that's fair game). If you think that we are all looking down on you, I think it's more a factor of you feeling inferior than TJ parents feeling superior.

Then don't take it personally, that's on you. I don't have a kid at Langley HS, so I won't be commenting on the rigor, student life, etc.. at that particular school. Its weird that you want to inject your personal opinions about a school you have no first-hand knowledge.

Actually they do that all the time, even when they only have kids at TJ, but please keep putting yourself and your kids on a pedestal. It’s amusing to watch the mix of arrogance and hypocrisy at work.

LOL, just stop it already. I have one at TJ and one at base school. I don't have one on a pedestal and one lower. Your insecurities are showing and it isn't pretty.

-1. Funny you don’t mention the name. It’s just “base school.” For some parents, it’s TJ and everything else. Don’t think the kids don’t know how you feel.
