We had a staycation and did various things each day - saw a movie (Tomb Raider), went to Georgetown for lunch, shopping, and a makeover, went to Great Falls park for a hike, etc. Nothing big, just little outings each day. It was fun and relaxing and we slept in every day. ![]() |
What resort? And what didn't you like? |
Florida! Weather was great and we stayed with my in-laws who live right next to the beach plus they have a pool. It's so nice to be able to get up and roam around in PJ's just like at home. |
We are at Hershey Park for their Springtime in the Park long weekend, and it is really fun (and worked out b cause the weather has been great, albeit a bit chillier than usual). Glad we did this and otherwise had a relaxed spring break. |
That’s a lot of detail. |
ROTFL. I thought everyone was going to respond like that ![]() |
Went to Hawaii with DH and DD, I miss it already |
We did a staycation for the first time in years and every time I regretted it I mentally applied $$ not spent to budget for summer. We did some nice things but also did a lot of nothing. DH worked more than he said he would and that pissed me off for a bit but then I scheduled two back to back nights HH's with friends w/o kids. Just get me through family Easter brunch tomorrow. |
Playa del Carmen, Mexico!
DH, I, two kids (11 and 14). Had a great time. The best days were when we had planned activities (a tour to Chichen Itza and a cenote one day, a trip to Xcaret another day). We also went to a beach club -- which was o.k. We stayed in a condo that I rented on vbro.com so the kids had one room to share, we had another bedroom, plus a kitchen, living area, washer/dryer and a huge balcony looking out over the community pool and onto the ocean. We loved learning about Mexican culture and the Myan history. Loved the show at the end of the day at Xcaret. Loved going one block up to 5th avenue where everyone goes at night for restaurants and shopping. When we go to the beach, we like to have access to good food and good snacks/treats. Being able to just skip up to the main drag and walk along with the family at any time was very convenient. We also really like having a kitchen to eat some meals at our place -- especially when the view is good and we can hear the waves. We weren't sure how it would be (accessible? safe?), but it turned out great. The ease of being able to speak English 95% of the time, but not all high rises and American chain restaurants (which is what I think of Cancun being).... more Mexican influence and people around. Cenotes are the best!! The food was great. We like to stay in condos so we have more comforts of home. |
What did you wear and eat for breakfast each day? |
Was vacation worth ALL THE LAUNDRY????
I have my doubts... |
Same with my kids lately. Like, damn. These people have no gratitude for anything- their house, basic necessities, fun extras. I can't believe despite all my intentions otherwise I managed to raise kids with so little thankfulness. |
we did a cruise to Puerto rico, Labadee, and St. Maarten out of Fort Lauderdale. 2 adults, 2 kids. Fantastic ship (Harmony of the Seas), my teen made friends quickly and on sea days he would hang out with his new friends for 10 hours a day. My younger child refused the kids club after going for a half hour once, thus not as relaxing for us as in the past when she wanted to go. Excursions were great, food was plentiful, weather was perfect, only one child was annoying --overall a B+ vacay. ![]() |
Do you need to pay for up charge dining on that boat? Sounds like a great trip! |
We are headed to NYC tomorrow, well DD and I are. Surprised her with the news this morning. Weather looks miserable but we'll make the best of it. |
