The bolded was also my experience. I'm Hindu, getting me to convert so I wouldn't "burn in the flames of hell" was like their golden ticket to the best seat in heaven. |
Yes. The obnoxious insistence with which they go after "the unsaved" doesn't make sense otherwise. Surely, they could not care so much about strangers that they continue to harrass them about their beliefs, and there must be some reward system if they can get converts. The constant contempt for someone else's religion, which they make no effort to hide, is disgraceful. I had one evangelical actually tell me that I don't understand my own religion (Judaism) and am blind to what G-d wants from me. Finally, I think that good people (of any religion) have a much greater chance of entering Heaven (if it exists....who knows?) than Evanglicals who harrass people, insult their religious beliefs, and tell them repeatedly that G-d disapproves of their choices. |
+ 1 In my encounters with evangelicals, I felt like "fresh meat" being circled by a tiger. I also felt highly violated, and after one encounter - one of them snuck into a Jewish event and started in on the hell that awaits me - I was so sickened by the shock of the "attack" that I spent the rest of the evening on the toilet. I really wish they had the capacity to understand the damage they do to their victims. |

| I'd like to see a study correlating IQ with religious choices. |
That would be interesting. |
| Pew has some data on education levels and religious afiliation. My memory is that Catholics have the lowest education level because they are an organization with a global reach. |
Here it is. http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/11/04/the-most-and-least-educated-u-s-religious-groups/ |
The funny thing is that according to the church I was raised in, all of the members of the Evangelical churches aren't saved, and are going to hell. I left that church as soon as I could and never looked back. I'm also going to hell
|
However, Catholics in 1st world countries, like the US, have a very high education rate -- and catholic schools are known for being very academically rigorous and for teaching evolution. |
| Evangelical here. I have two master degrees and a phd. I have zero interest in converting anyone. I am not part of any "church", let alone megachurch. |
Me too, but it's fine. I'll be with friends and family! |
Isn't an obligation to convert a part of evangelicalism? Evangelizing = spreading the faith. |

That's OK - some of us were born right the first time
[/quote] Haha, well played |
Nope. |
