What will be the next DCPS/OSSE scandal?

Ask WTU, scan through the chaff and pick out the ones that don't sound like union beefs.

Unhappy teachers and no one doing anything about it.

That's the easiest one to prove if you can get someone knowledgeable to talk about it. The cost differences between DCPS/DGS projects and similar projects by charters are ridiculous- DCPS at least twice as much for similar buildings, sometimes 3 times as much. And the charters still have to abide by some of the hiring standards like hiring a certain percentage of DC residents and DC businesses.

My recollection is that Latin spent $17 million for a gut-rehab of the old Rudolph school. Compare that to the $200 million spent on Ellington, or even some of the less outrageous DCPS projects, and you wonder what is going on. Also compare to the $40 million that GDS is reportedly asking for their lower campus and you have to wonder.

I think about this a lot. Dcps pays a lot but not enough for me for the behavior the teachers have to deal with.

Testing fraud!!! We still do not have 2015 - 2016 reports, check out the OSSE website - "It's coming" What's the holdup???? Neither do we have last year's reports and yet PARCC is around the corner, if there were no incidents of fraud or cheating both reports would have been released by now, especially 2015-2016

No one who works for DCPS is surprised by any of these scandals.

If they ever do an independent investigation of DCPS Central Office, the next scandal will be how much money is wasted there on useless stuff.

1) How woefully inadequate PARCC tests are at measuring student growth. Yet everything, including people’s livelihoods and kids’ educations, rides on them. It’s all smoke and mirrors and grown ups making money.

2) tech in the classroom. iPads, literacy programs, quiz apps, gifted and talented software, behavior management apps, google classroom, PARCC needing to be administered on computers... also all smoke and mirrors and grownups making money.

These are distractions from our teachers teaching and our learners learning.

DC pays for about 700 special needs kids who cannot be served by public schools to attend private schools. There are indications that not all of these kids are DC residents.

"Indications that not all of these kids..."

From anecdotal evidence, it's more like a lot of these kids are not DC residents.
