I am 38, 3rd pregnancy (2 healthy babies for first two), and it was a vaginal ultrasound. She didn’t check my hcg levels at that appt but I’m nauseous, tired, and have many pregnancy symptoms. I have a 10 day follow up ultrasound to confirm. I may have ovulated a week late, so my 7 week appointment may have been 6. The doctor seemed pretty convinced it was BO, wherein we would need to discuss a D&C, pill or natural miscarriage. Thoughts on those? Or, was anyone surprised to find that there was a healthy baby on a follow-up ultrasound? This 10 day wait is torture!
OP here. After a long 10 days, the follow-up ultrasound showed a baby (heartbeat, fetal pole, sac). Still in shock, but very happy. I am a week behind what was originally thought. Although the sac originally measured 6.3 weeks, I was only 5.3 weeks. At that time it can be difficult to see anything and I also have a tilted uterus that may have contributed to difficulty with an early ultrasound. I appreciated all of the helpful comments, and want to share in case anyone is searching this thread/issue in the future.
