Just wanted to respond to the impulse not to switch the kids in school mid-year. Depending on the age and personality of your kid, starting at a new school with a couple months left in the year might be a great experience - they are likely to get a lot of attention and care from teachers and the other students in the class and be assessed to see how their knowledge and skills align with the new district's curriculum (and then if there are gaps, you can start to address them during the summer). They'll also have the chance to make some friends, which you can then help reinforce through summer playdates, etc. |
