we also got it through the dealer--three years of no interest.
we had enough saved for 2 years of payments, so we put half of it into a 1-year CD and half into a 2-year CD and made the first year of payments out of our current income (basically taking the amount we'd been putting into our new car savings fund each month, plus a bit more). Then when that year was up, we had all the money for the remaining payments waiting for us, plus enough interest for an oil change and a tank of gas and stuff. Interest rates on CDs are low, so it wasn't a lot, but it's free money and I was glad to have it! |
