Our daycare asks that we do and sends out a class list like OP |

Ugh I hate the waste associated with Valentine’s Day cards. You told them in a box then they immediately get thrown away. This is how we are destroying our planet!!
We collect leaves and press them in books to dry then out. Then with a silver sharpie write our message. This years is “you better beLEAF we are friends.” Cheap and biodegradable. |

We got the lists of classroom names too. I think it is a total waste of paper, but it is what it is. I ordered cards on Amazon that included an owl/cat/butterfly tattoo for my Pre-K's room. For my younger's (2yo) room, I just did a card. Parents had to sign up to bring food to the classroom parties.
I did not get gift cards for the teachers. Is this a thing?!? It literally never crossed my mind. |

I'm a failure of a mother and did nothing/sent nothing. Just completely forgot.
I swear, I need a sister wife that is good at paying attention to the sweet things like Valentine's and stuff because I just suck at it. I'll cook for her, clean for her, pay all the bills, I just need someone to do the emotional labor of remembering to make the effort on things like this. |
OP here, I only thought of it because the name list included all of the teachers' names, and my mom recommended chocolate hearts. I seriously wish they would just give us clear directions on what we are supposed to do. I can't stand the guessing game. |
I feel you. Also, aren't all kids that are in daycare there because they have two working parents who are limited on time? If I am supposed to do something, just tell me. Magically having to know about this stuff as a first time (and probably one and done) parent is so frustrating. |
| oh were we supposed to send paper valentine cards for her classmates? we just sent treats for the party. whoops. (she's 1!!!) |
| Cheap cards that can be recycled. Easy and your kid took part. |
