It is a very warm, nurturing community with small classes and tucked in a residential neighborhood. You probably drive right past it and don’t even know it’s there. We’ve been there for 5 years and couldn’t be happier. Www.pinecrestschool.org.

+1, although we’ve only been there a year. We’re very happy with the environment and the academics (and, bonus, they built/opened a new school building this year).

Oops I just saw you were asking about a 7th grader. Pinecrest only goes to 6.

The public schools are massive. I’m not OP but my husband went to McLean schools and then TJ and we go private because that’s not a fit for us.

I think your best bet is a Catholic school; they are all more than half the price of private and accept all/no faiths.

Ideaventions is phenomenal for the right child. Definitely put it on your list to visit; you'll be able to tell pretty quickly whether it will be a good fit.

The environment is extremely nurturing, kind, and respectful, but also extremely academic. Kids who have more curiosity than they know what to do with thrive there. It has no sports teams. (Neither does our local fcps middle school, so there are lots of opportunities outside of school.) The 2e kids there are doing great- and extra support is available to everyone.

The school has better CS and engineering than I have seen anywhere, and I grew up and taught in silicon valley.

We love it.
