Well, what do you think fcps shoukd Do? Have a crisis employee running to a student's house when they threaten suicide? Having the police do a welfare check is more appropriate. If someone publicly tweets to fcps and really is serious, it is a cry for help.

Here is what FCPS should not do: publicize the tweet and threaten to call the police. If you look at the comment section of FCPS’s tweet, it is full of anonymous posters threatening to hang themselves unless school is closed again tomorrow. So now rather than 1 “suicide threat” they have 100. And you can pretty much guarantee that threatening to hang oneself if school is not closed is 2018 and 2019’s #closefcps. The FCPS tweet was incredibly stupid. They could have tried to handle it quietly. Instead, they did the one thing that anyone who has ever met a teenage knows not to do: they created a meme.

FCPS has to protect themselves. I seriously doubt a real suicide threat would be tweeted to their school system and they probably knew as well. It was CYA- and I doubt they care if that reply became and protect themselves a meme. I doubt any private handling would not be public rather quickly anyway.

So now FCPS need to CYA and protect themselves from 100 kids threating suicide on social media instead of just one. And probably another 100 kids next time there is a snowstorm. How did going public with this do anything except make the situation exponentially worse? They solved zero problems with this tweet, and created 100 new ones. And it was so pedictable. Says anyone parenting or teaching HS students.
