To Keep Some Modicum of Decency on this Site....

Never tell someone how to speak, but do hold them responsible for their words.

Vulgarity is the result of a limited mind attempting to express a thought.

Not OP here.
While I certainly don’t condone some of the things the president has said, I urge you to do a little research on the “salty” language by other presidents. I think you would be surprised.

Here is just one source:

There are many, many more.
I don't understand. Are you saying you don't like what you perceive to be salty language no matter who says it or it bothers you when it's a liberal?
I'm the person who asked this question and I really wish the poster I was addressing would come back and answer.

That would be me. And, I rarely check this forum. Sorry I did not respond within the 24 hour window you seem to expect.

I am not crazy about salty language in general. From anyone. Politician or not. I don’t use this type of language and I am not crazy about hearing other people use it. And, I agree with another poster who said, "Vulgarity is the result of a limited mind attempting to express a thought.” Despite what the study says, I think resorting to vulgarity to express a thought indicates you are resorting to the lowest form of verbal expression.

Thank you for taking the time to answer no matter when you chose to do so. I appreciate it. Give me your honest opinion of POTUS using the word "sh$%%hole"?

I am not crazy about anyone using that word. And, while there are reports that he said this, there were other reports that he didn’t. If he indeed said it, it was at a meeting with Congressmen. Not at a podium in front of the American people.
What I think is equally as distasteful as someone using this word is a congressman running to the press to complain about it after leaving a private meeting.
This never happened with Clinton, LBJ, or any of the other presidents who were known to be “salty.”

Wow. You have a problem with profanity in an anonymous web forum but refuse to condemn the president for profanity, especially with regard to using that for entire countries. Instead, you have a problem with someone speaking about that hateful language. Your hypocrisy is hard for me to handle.
Anonymous
Again, why is it Ok for the president to use this language with congressmen but not an anonymous individual with no power or pulpit. Absolutely ridiculous.

+1

Totally ridiculous.

Anonymous wrote:OP, I'm curious why you felt the need to mention "some liberal"? Your request was clear without adding that so what was your point?

Not the PP, but please. We all know liberals on this site love to pepper their posts with profanity. It seems to be filler for what would otherwise have been intelligent discourse, but they just can't manage that so they load up on cursing. And then they wrap it all up with a pretty red bow at the end: STFU. They're really so charming.

DP here. I seem to remember countless posts (yes, by liberals) calling places in southern and middle America, "shitholes" - and calling the people who live there much worse. Why doesn't it bother you that your fellow posters call your fellow Americans these awful names, yet somehow you're outraged that Trump *accurately* called Haiti and some African countries, "shitholes"? He wasn't calling the people who live there names. Just the countries themselves. And most people, whether they admit it or not, agree with him.

Like the PP noted, your hypocrisy is hard to handle. In other words, you only have a problem with profanity (and corruption, lies and law breaking) when you feel liberal Dems are the culprit. When it's conservative Repubs, let them have it; it's a veritable free for all. Thanks for explaining to us what we already knew.
