| No idea if these people could help, but worth checking into at least - https://www.reputationdefender.com |
I lied about my background and did a really bad job of what she hired me for. I also told some lies on the way out. I cant give more info than that. |
You don't have a case for defamation if what she is saying is true. Invasion of privacy/false light is when someone says something that shows you in a false light. I don't think that the information disclosed publicly needs to be false. In other words, it could be technically true (ie, you did make the mistakes) but the context makes it otherwise offensive/distorted (ie, she is not giving the full picture of what happened, so that it looks worse than it was). There are other types of invasion of privacy; false light is just one and may not exist as a tort in the state you're in. |
| What you did then is pretty messed up. You could have been sued. Be happy this is your only problem now. |
This poster has good advice. |
|
The fastest thing would be to apologize and ask her nicely to take it down herself.
|
| You could hire some people on the dark web to conduct a data denial of service attack against the website. Illegal though, so I wouldn’t recommend it |
|
I would use a different name/nickname on my resume, and tell your references this so they don't say they don't know you if called.
Once hired, that's when they can find out you have a different legal name. So like "Larla DeSnoflake" becomes LaLa or L DeSnoflake or Elle Desnoflake Or L. (middle name) DeSnoflake. These things were true but if she's not ready to let it go it's your only option. |
Why in the world have you not contacted a lawyer? Do that TOMORROW. |
|
Change your name. It's a relatively simple process. Look on the court's website for the state in which you live for more information. It's unfortunate this has happened, but glad to hear you've changed your ways. Good luck!
Ps. It's not defamation if the allegations are true. However, I'd talk to a pro bone/legal aid attorney (again available through your state/county, or various non profit organizations) and discuss w/n the legal elements of harassment, or any other actionable claim, are met. |
| I would also change my name. |
|
Do not change your name and silly stuff like that. Go to a legal aide, pay a small fee so have a letter sent to her home address. We did that once and they backed off. Make sure it spells out you will seek legal action and damages if she doesn't take the website down.
What she is doing is illegal. |
Whats illegal about what she's doing if it's all true? |
| OP you really should talk to a lawyer and at least explore your options. |
| Is she famous? |
