The only way Jeff is going to see this is if you reported your own post. I can assure you he is not sitting around reading every.single.post. |
Take a drink! Uniforms mentioned in a thread about Hardy! |
They have something to sell you, but they make it sound like they care about where your kid goes and that you should too. They are trying to sell you a house IB to Deal or at least get their money back at some point. There is more Hardy bashing than nice talk about Deal which is hard to believe. Who benefits from it? Follow the money. They should not be recommending a school that is already crowded. How is crowded even good? Again, selling you something. Hardy feeder kids outperform Deal feeder kids. There is no reason why they won't do well in Hardy with the great teachers they have. Middle school is only 3 years and Hardy and Deal kids will meet up in Wilson. some make it sound like eternity. I rent and can move IB to Deal or anywhere. Moving nowhere. DC is finishing up 5th grade and going to Hardy next year. I have asked him if his classmates were coming and he said yes, almost all. I really don't mind if some of you don't want to send your kid to Hardy. You do your thing, we do ours. DC is not coming to Wilson and no, not bashing Wilson. |
Well said! Do home values in AU Park go down in Hardy becomes more widely seen as a viable option? --future Hardy parent |
| Hardy is being transformed. It's also not crowded. Get with the times. |
Why are you leaving. Why Are you going to do you? We are in balance for deal but also looking at privates for next year. Just would like to know your thoughts? |
Why are you leaving private? Why moving to Deal? We are in bounds for deal and I would just like to know your thoughts as we consider private versus deal for next year? |
Private is too small. My child has been there since K and needs to be around more kids and different kids. They also do more differentiation than private, despite what is said here. The people I have talked to in person all universally love Deal and their kids went to top privates for HS. |
Greatshools.org is not really a worthwhile source to look at for real info about schools - it's based on formulas and a few comments often by disgruntled individuals or realtor trying to push properties. the DCUM fixation with bashing and promoting different schools is also not really great for real info - where so many of the commenters about Hardy clearly really don't know anything about the school, have any real connection with the school, or have been near the school in any recent time frame... it seems to be just some people having race baiting fun about uniforms etc. and/or families that want to put down hardy to make themselves about their kids going to Deal or privates... |
| I have two middle schoolers at Hardy. 1 has all A’s and the other has As and Bs. Most importantly, they are happy there. I prefer uniforms myself. No need for the kids to worry about what to wear or who has what while in school. |

Question:
1. What % of Key and Mann 5th grade class from 2017 enrolled in Hardy? 2. What % of Stoddert 5th grade class from 2017 applied via the lottery for schools other than Hardy? |
Parent of a key 2017 student. They graduated 35 or so kids. I know of only 5 at hardy. |
| They dynamic of Hardy enrollment is changing for real. Next year, they are expecting around 100 to 130 kids from the feeder schools (it will be the first year Eaton is designated to Hardy without a choice set). Fewer kids can lottery into Latin with competition across the city, and more families see Hardy as more viable than Basis (and:or don’t like the testing focus and/or realize that in the end the composition of the class is not much different than Hardy). it’s a different ball game. |
lol we hear this literally every single year "this year is the year!!!!!!" |
| It’s finally happened. |
