If that were ALWAYS true, the start date would march relentlessly backwards by a day or two each summer until the school year started in July (and then in June, etc.). But since that obviously hasn't happened, we must get a ten-week summer every seven years or so to keep the school year in the same general range. (Or, I suppose, a nine-week summer in a year during which a gob of snow days pushed back the last day of school.) And it looks like we're about due....

Not true - either 2 or 3 summers ago it was a 10 week summer. And I work from home so I prefer 9 oh so much!
