She's a wonderful actress and was exquisite in Emma.

I think she is a decent actress but she should not have beat Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth for her performance in Shakespeare in love. GP is more of a mid-tier actress, light years ahead of someone like Julia Roberts but definitely not in the top tier like someone like Cate or Meryl. Her acting peers are more like Sandra Bullock or Jennifer Connolly.
