I am only guessing here, but there is no reason for a private business to turn over its financial records that have nothing to do with this particular case, nor should it need to turn over records of clients not related to this particular case.

Why is this a bigger issue to you than, say, a presidential campaign conspiring with a foreign adversary?

The mole is George Papadopoulos. He said things to Australian intelligence officers, who told the US. This was reported in the NYT last week.

They matched what he said up with things learned from Fusion GPS, which gave the other things in the Steele Dossier credibility, so they investigated those as well.

Plus there were ongoing investigations of Russian money laundering through NYC real estate deals that also tied into some of this. Guess who was leading those? Oh yeah....Preet Bhahara.

Wrong. Papadopolus was not on board in 2015 when the investigation began.
