West Side or East Side of Manhattan - which do you prefer?

Uptown, I’d take UES. DT, west side.

The only good part of the east side is LES/EV.

We lived on the UES in the 1990s and liked it at the time but looking back it was soooooo boring. If I moved back into the city I would look downtown or in Brooklyn. Having said that, the west side was just as boring. Proximity to the park was the biggest upside.

I agree. Love ues for the park, convience to dry cleaners, grocers, drug and hardware stores, clothing, dr. Appointments, transportation, walking to work in midtown and variety affordable takeout. Miss it so much I could cry. Very livable.

Umm... really? Both suck when it comes to restaurants but upper west side has less choices and more chain like places. Upper west side does have better grocery stores though.

UWS is much better overall, but UES has much better restaurant selection.
