Mother of a girl here. Just wanted to say that, in my experience, unless your child is dressed from head to toe in pink, has her ears pierced, and has a bow in her hair, people will tell you what a cute little boy she is. I can't tell you how often this happened to us, and she was our first child, so we did not dress her in boy clothes. Even clothing with flowers and hearts on it didn't seem to indicate that she was a girl. At first I thought it was her stroller (we had a hand-me-down blue stroller), but we got those comments regardless. I was excited when her hair got long enough to put in pigtails, and interestingly I'm much more comfortable with her in boy clothes now that it's obvious from her hair that she's a girl. So I guess my point is, I don't think it really matters if you dress her in boy clothes, because unless she's all in pink, people will assume she's a boy anyway.
