The Goddard School in King Farm

It was an onsite child care at a Federal Government office..and you don't have to be a federal employe to attend them..though you may have a harder time getting a spot.

Over the time my child has been at Goddard, we have received many many warning notices asking parents not to park in the handicapped spots. Parents still do not comply. I know that there is atleast one policeman who drops his kids off at Goddard...maybe he got fed up too with people not obeying the law. (I know I can't stand it.) I don't think the owner called the cops to issue a ticket (he's actually almost never around during pick up and drop off times - so I really doubt he did that.) I actually think he cares a lot about the quality of his school program, unlike other schools where you never ever see the owner of the franchise. Just my 2 cents.

Cares alot about the quality of the school but is never around at pick up and drop off time? The two don't seem to fit. I would think he would want to be available for parents and transitions.

Goddard is a franchised daycare center not a school per se.

Its the same as using Kindercare, Child Time or a Bright Horizons center - all the same pros and cons really.

True..I guess that is why people are disappointed. He is an owner who cares about the bottom line. Not the director who cares (hopefully)about the children. He might as well be selling tires as opposed to daycare center spots.

The owner is a businessman, not a teacher. His focus is making money He does not interact well with the students or parents. He actually called the police and had the police issue $300 tickets to parent who had parked at the handicapped parking to drop off their kids. He has a very antagonistic relationship with the parents. He seems to view us as the problem. I do like the teachers at his school. The classes are huge. I don't know if my son is learning anything special. I like the fact that the building is new and clean.

He should. That's the first truly positive thing I've heard about that school. Non-handicapped people who park in handicap spots are disgusting.

Well my child has been at Goodard King Farm since she was two, she is now in the last classroom and will be attending kindergarten in the fall. She has had great teachers all the way through. Each year they seem to get better and better. Being a working mom of three I have had my share of daycares. My older two are in elementary and middle school now, they were not nearly as prepared for elementary school as my child at Goddard. My other kids were at Healthy Beginnings in the FDA building and Academy on Darnestown Road and the turnover at those daycares were much higher and the prices were expensive too. I will agree that the owner is a businessman, but personally I prefer that because he keeps a tighter hold on what is going on in each classroom.

As for the parent being angry at the owner for a parent parking in the handicap parking space to drop a kid off, I think is totally justified. He sent out many warnings to please not park there unless you are justified to do so. I think whomever parks there and in not justified should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree about the administrative fees each year and for summer. I would rather pay a little extra tuition then have a $300 or $400 fee. But overall I have been very happy with the Goddard School in King Farm and I feel my child is safe and getting a great education. By the way we have a child in our class with one of the most extreme allergies and the parents want to keep him there for the kindergarten class that they are trying to implement for next year because they do feel so safe there.

After reading so many negative posts I found it necessary to let you know how a mom of three with many daycare experiences feels
