ouch! give a pregnant mommy a break. i work full time, have a toddler and am preggers -- and now my shoes have to be the height of current fashion too?

OP here. I wasn't all that offended, and actually laughed at that. I know they are not the most current option, hence me writing "Tory Burch type flats" in my post. I try to stay stylish, but seriously--this is d.c. Like anyone here would know the difference, particularly a bunch of lawyers. I wore my first pair of Tory Burch shoes at my old firm in 2007 for 1 day and after a guy looked at my shoes and said "nice medalions" I returned them and realized I have to wait for things to be around long enough to be accepted in my not-quite-cutting-edge world. sigh.

Appleseed is a great store! I'm also very petite too (4'11''). I bought maternity pants here and ended up rotating between a pair or corduroy and plain black pants towards the end.

I'm due March 23rd and have had the same thoughts about my winter wardrobe! I'm also very petite. Unfortunately my baby bump is already big enough that I can't button up my regular work pants. I found some AMAZING work pants at A Pea In The Pod. They're somewhat expensive ($70- $80 a pair), but you can wear them throughout pregnancy, and they look like normal pants - not baggy or big or anything. They also have really cute designer maternity jeans (I got a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans and they are awesome)! I have not tried a bella band yet... I'd rather just get regular maternity pants for now so I don't have to worry about someone seeing my pants unzipped.

Congrats! OP here, and we're right in the same boat. I went to Mimi/Motherhood the other night and got a great pair of pants (the tag said Pea in the Pod). They were similar to the pants from appleseed that someone posted. I'm wearing them now and they are a life saver. I wish they came in other colors so I could buy more.

Still haven't told anyone at the office yet, but I'm so glad I can breathe now when I sit down. I actually popped a button recently and that's when I decided I don't care that everyone else says they didn't need maternity clothes until 20 weeks, etc.---I couldn't breathe!

I'm expecting my baby in January. While some of my tops still fit, it's no longer the case with pants. I work in a professional environment and felt like I needed to buy some decent maternity pants to wear to the office. I was very pleased with Motherhood Maternity store, which has reasonably priced maternity clothes. They have a store at Pentagon City mall (here's general website: http://www.motherhood.com/). I bought 2 pairs of dress pants, 1 pair of corduroy pants and 1 pair of jeans - all with secret fit belly. They look and fit great, and I didn't feel like I was breaking the bank. I also bought one top and a loose winter coat on sale which I'll be able to wear beyond pregnancy.

You may also want to check out Target maternity section and Marshalls or TJ Max for larger size tops.
