S/O Is dance (non-ballet) a good EC for top colleges?

I know of many kids who danced a load like OP described (multiple disciplines with a lot of hip hop and jazz, plus school dance team experience) who received college scholarships and were recruited to perform on university dance teams.

I actually know more kids who got scholarships this way than through their team sport.

Non-ballet dance was the primary EC for DD. She did it every day. It wasn't cheap, but she loved it. Goes to a top 10 USNWR school with multiple dance groups and she's in one. Not a dance major.

Schools want kids who will participate in these activities and maintain the vibrancy of these groups on campus. In that sense her non-ballet dance is adding more to campus life than say, a HS varsity football player who isn't good enough to play DI.
