Most of the people who work behind counters are not trained makeup artists. The best ones come in from outside or are roving artists for specific companies. They generally work those special events. Some of Sephora's people are trained and have their own companies as well.
I might suggest, OP, that you consider hiring an independent makeup artist to give you a real application lesson that is geared to your specific needs. She'll take the time to find out about you before working with you. Tell her that you have this GC at Sephora and ask her to recommend how to spend it. A good one will put together a list of products for you. She'll also work with a number of makeup lines on you. In the end, you'll have a program tailored just for you, know how to apply it all and a shopping list. |
