Top three things that parents do to annoy babysitters:

18:16 - It's my house, it is NOT up to you to tell me (the owner) when I can be there or not. If you want a job. Chances are you were told when I would be there, anyway.

We are MORE than fair and have "help" who refuses to do anything for top (obscene) dollar. Her loss.

I have seen children referred to as brats twice. Shows how much you care about children. Remember the brats are your income if you don’t like it find another profession.

Parents that don't know their place really annoy me.

When I was a teenage babysittier: dads who drove me home after they had been drinking. It didn't bother me until I became a mother myself!

As a college summer "nanny" I hated SAHMs. I couldn't fathom why they were paying me to do their job for them! They were the most demanding, and annoying because they'd pop in and out and it was confusing and painful for the kids. Just say goodbye and be done with it!

Oh also in college, well-off families that asked me to use my own car to pick up and drop off from activities, when they had a perfectly good minivan for me to use. When my parents insisted I stop, and quit my job giving 2 weeks notice, treating me like one of their clients and trying to trick or persuade me to stay or change my parents' minds. Then getting mad when I said no.

Leaving nude pictures of yourself on the home computer. Did you do that on purpose pervert? Trust me I'm not interested in your d*ck.

Now that I'm an adult and a SAHM mom myself, I have yet to hire a babysitter. I'm not ready!

No babysitter gets to use our computer (we don't have nude pics on there, but still) I am surprised they let you use it.

I respect my babysitters a lot and often need someone on short notice. When that's the case, I typically pay more. My kids are always asleep when we leave, and I provide dinner and snacks to the sitter. We call if we're late, we round up to the next hour. (Unless we come home wayyy early, we always pay for the hours agreed upon) If we had drinks, I offer a cab home and reimburse for that. That's common sense to me.

I do expect daytime sitters to engage my children, however. I pay more for those services, so the TV should be last resort. I actually do not show daytime sitters how to use the remote, unlike my nighttime sitters.

It's always worked well for us. We have only had one horrible sitter so far.

The difference is babysitters are being PAID to watch and interact with the children. If I wanted to sit them in front of the tv all day I wouldn't need to pay a babysitter. If I'm paying you $10.00 an hour or more, you better believe I expect you to interact with the kids.

You state 10 bucks an hour as if it is a hefty wage. I paid more than that for a babysitter over 10 years ago.
