Telestrations -- sometimes funnier with an early reader. Also the 4yo could pair up with an adult do the drawing rounds, and give the adult partner suggestions about what the pictures represent.
Wits and wagers is also a game that you don't need to know the answers. You try to pick which person is most likely to be right. |
| This is the op. Thanks everyone! I should have actually said age 9 to 70, the 4 year old will probably not really play. He is happy to watch anyway. We have cranium and Pictionary and like both but need new options. These are amazing , keep them coming ! |
Cards Against Humanity

| A few years back we went to a friend's parents' home for Thanksgiving and they had ages 6 to 70 there and we played bingo. Yep, old fashioned bingo. It was delightful. You can get bingo sets online cheaply. The hosts had gotten funny, inexpensive prizes and we all had a great time. I might have one board game that requires more thinking, like the many listed above, and also have bingo in reserve because it's fun and moves fast but is a good option for a few rounds when everyone doesn't want to think too much any more (when the turkey tryptophan kicks in....). |

We are vicious clue players with Little’s teaming up with bigs.
For big laughs beanbozzled is fun (especially when grandpa cheats) |
When our youngest couldn't read we played the Disney edition of Apples to Apples and she could put down cards based on the pictures. We do charades where people write the items. |
+1 also try kingdomino and karuba though neither work with more than 4 players. |

Qwirkle is super fun. It’s shapes so it would be easier for the little one but it still might be best to have the little one team up with someone older.
There’s always Pie in the Face too. Hahaha. |
Yes! It's fun to have a few that the 4YO can play, because they won't want to watch forever. Rat-A-Tat Cat and Sleeping Queens. |
| Dixit - fun, creative and no reading required! |

Taboo. It's easy to adjust by age/ability because you can just say that for the young or old ones, they only have to avoid the first word on the list (or none of the words on the list, or whatever) and can get a pass for a word they don't know. (Like when my 5 year old nephew got "lingerie.").
There's a bunch that are good for not a large group -- like Quirkle, Carcassone, Sequence -- those are all better for 4 players (or 4 teams of 2 maybe). Love Sleeping Queens also! |
| Aw, my suggestion is for the 4 year-old and I just read above s/he probably won't play. But our little ones that age loved Zingo and it is a great game to play with a grandparent or aunt/uncle. I also like the Jenga suggestions on top of the other board games listed. Jenga is a great game for the tween set. |

Telestrations for sure!
I just bought The Voting Game a few weeks ago and we played at a large family gathering - any age can play, but you might need to skip a couple questions or explain a bit. It's very fun and easy to jump in and out of. Nice thing about these two is that lots of people can play. My 85 year old grandma played and youngest in my family was 6. Tensies is fast and easy too. |
