Sad--touches on death and loss. Brought me to tears as a 12 year old seeing it in the theater. I'd look up the common sense media review.

yeah all three read the book but sadly had to give up on the movie. Maybe they are too old? They were 8 and 11

my oldest was 13 at the time and does not like anything anyway so I am not counting him

I believe they say "sh!t" at least once, and someone calls a kid "penis breath."

If you care about that sort of thing.

The part where ET has seemingly died is scary, as is the part at the end where the government dudes are entering the bubbled-off house with guns. It would have been a lot for my kids at 5.
