Anyone else at Mean Girls right now?

I didn’t like the movie, will I like the musical?
I am a musical theater buff... I’m just really sensitive about picking on others. Does the musical follow the movie pretty closely?

Can you give an opinion as to the age appropriateness? I have teenagers who will go, but I also have a younger one who is 8. She loves musicals and is familiar with the music of many musicals. Many songs go over her head, but watching the show is very different. Thanks

When it started I thought "Oh my 8 yo will love this!" then after a few mentions of blow jobs and other adult stuff I thought better of it. Leave kids under 13/14 at home.

The movie is rated 14+ and IMO, the musical is more sexual than the movie (including slightly veiled reference to ejaculate). This wasn't a Disney-joke-over-their-heads kind of thing. If you wouldn't mind your kid peeping in the windows at your typical high school party where the parents aren't home ... ok. This is not PG-13.

I loved it, btw.

My husband is the same way. He isn't crazy about the movie, but enjoyed the music and the sets. That being said, he also mentioned it was too long and sometimes tedious. It follows the movie very closely.

LOVED it..it did feel a little long, though.

We just saw it and I disagree about the length. We felt it was perfect! Although I would not take anyone under 13. There was a kid about 8 and she kept kicking us and asking very loud questions. Very annoying!

How long is the run time? I can't find that info anywhere. Going tomorrow night (so excited) and trying to figure out when to have DH come pick me up.

We were there last night with you! It was really good. Agree that it's probably not appropriate for under 13, but I did see a few younger kids there.

Just so the people disagreeing over whether it felt too long know- they made some cuts and tightened it up throughout previews, so someone may well have seen it when it was longer, while someone who saw it the other week would've seen a shorter show.

I saw it last night and it started at about 8:05 and ended at 10:40. So, still about 2 hours 35 minutes.
