Yes, you do have to have the exclusive talk. It’s not childish to establish either that she isn’t sleeping with anyone else or dating other people while you guys are together. I had gotten burned in the past with guys that will say “well you never asked me if”, “we hadn’t agreed to” that I assume unless it has been asked and agreed to, don’t assume.

As for the get back to you, that does seems a bit rude especially since you’ve been intimate. What, is she waiting for a better offer? The only possible legit reason I could see her really liking you to date exclusively but saying she will get back to you is if she thinks you are only asking her because you saw her out and it’s not genuine. Apart from that, she knows now what she is feeling - does she not want to commit right now to anyone, does she need to know you better, or does she want to keep it casual?

You need to think next steps..

- If she comes back and says "sure, let's be exclusive", life is good from your perspective.
- If she comes back and says "no, not exclusive", what are you going to do? I'd say keep doing what you are doing while you find someone else. Move the sex to her place if you can. Why give up on the free pu**y. Begin using condoms though..

This is how it works. Exclusivity is not assumed. Everyone is welcome to pursue other options until one is solid. I'm sorry that you did not realize this and that you feel like an idiot. Based on her response, it does not sound like this is going to turn into a relationship. I would move on if I were you.
