One More Admissions Inquiry

Wow, that's amazing. Taking the admission's office position for a minute it probably makes sense that they take kids from a school they know. When a director of little folks or ncrc say this is one of the most creative kids I've seen and his parents are very busy but also very involved, this probably means more than the director of a daycare saying the kid draws well and the parents seem nice and pay their bills on time.

In the end it doesn't really matter for someone like us. We would never have gotten into Little Folks in the first place because we could never do the hours or nanny. I suppose that's the point.

I've been checking this site reguarly because I find some of the posts very information and some amusing, but it may be time to stop reading about how it was never going to happen in the first place. I'll wait for my thin envelopes, please.

Good luck you all.

It may very well be that admissions directors look at every applicant equally. But I can not find any rational reason why this particular class of Little Folks got accepted to all top schools. You would have to see more than a few NOT get accepted by a top private elementary school for me to believe that there was not SOME edge to going to Little Folks.

That is absolutely shocking. I obviously sent my child the the wrong pre-k/daycare environment. No wonder my pre-k director has heard nothing from the schools I applied to. Wow.

That was 8 slots filled by Little Folks students. Please do not be discouraged. Whatever happens your DC is great and I know you will find another option.

My waiting situation is far worse; we applied last year and we were wait listed we are hoping our fate is different this year. But we are not really counting on it; so we would have been rejected or waitlisted two years in a row.

Yes, I'm sorry for posting those statistics of my son's year. I was only saying that I found them shocking too, and that it is undeniable that these preschools have some "in". But the PP is right that there are more slots than these chosen few preschools can fill up (I think in Beauvoir there were 60 slots for Pre-K and then an additional 20 for K), and I do know that there were many students (probably half) NOT from the "big three" preschools. So although I would say under no uncertain terms that Little Folks, NCRC, and Aidan have some clear edge, a large portion of the incoming students to Beauvoir, Sidwell, GDS and Maret will come from a good old fashioned, unknown preschool or will have not gone to preschool at all.

This is hilarious. So now any preschool that is not Little Folks, NCRC or Aidan is "unknown"?

I was actually being sarcastic.
