The Trump administration is - ahem - not known for careful vetting.

So in the upside down world of this administration perhaps it makes sense to put someone who actually helped make the opiod crisis worse in charge of the DEA?

In 2016, Marino was part of a GOP effort to look into whether Hillary Clinton committed perjury when she testified before Congress about her private email server, Fox News reported.

Well, then he's shown he's a man of impeccable judgment and character, suitable for any high office in the government. The fact that Fox News corroborates this is additional proof.

Not so fast. Trump requires that nominees look the part. Marino may not have been suitably Russian-looking to be drug czar.

And now Tom Marino has withdrawn from his Congressional seat to take an unspecified private sector job. After serving only two weeks. Someone must REALLY not like being in the minority.

Special election to come, super R district so no pickup opportunity.

He was also known to associate with George Papadapolous. There may be more to this. Also Pennsylvania has been redistrcited, but some of those counties had a D during some of the Obama years, so it’s not impossible.

The newly drawn district is R+17, so it’s a reaaaaaaaaally long shot.

Yes, Marino's district is deeply within Fox/Limbaugh territory. Far from cities, far from real news, no real local news to speak of. People there listen to the liars on rightwing radio and on Fox every day. I think there's a Sinclair station there too. Sad.
