Friend claims most situations from another friend are hyperbole

When my brother died as a teenager she told me all about how her uncle died when she was little.

I've known her for like 35 years... most people think of her as the kindest and nicest and most genuine person on a planet. And she is s kind person which is why I'm still friends with her but she's also a compulsive liar.

Maybe this lady is a paranoid bully... or maybe she's been pulled around the block by your friend's drama so many times she actually thinks she'd lie about something like this. And that says something alarming about your friend, even if in this case the grief and loss is real and genuine.

Actually, my friend is very drama free - she is the most chill and capable person I know. If a situation that affects her comes up, she handles it without discussion. She is not the type to lie or fabricate anything, and has no reason to, which is why I am shocked at the sketchy reply of the other person. Now the other person, I could see her being involved with other questionable people who are drama prone gossips - everything is a challenge (!!!!)- how exhausting- and they are probably jealous of my friend, so if any reason, that is why. We don't really bother with them often, now I know why.
