On the other hand, my mother was noticeably graying at 28. I know this because I asked her when my father was present. She said she wasn't sure, maybe late 20s. He responded, "28," with resentful certainty.

Wow, resentful as in he didn't like it that she grayed so early? Yikes....

What PP said. Talk about sexist and shallowness.

I particularly enjoy watching those men gray, bald and grow paunchy.

But they have magic mirrors that whisper compliments to them. They never notice they've become shiny-headed and paunchy.

I found my first at around 25...though I held out on many more for awhile. Now I have few here and here (30)...but I noticed they came when i got pregnant. I'm not sure if its a coincidence or not. My dad went white at around 33. My Aunt had about 5 grays at 65, until she got breast cancer and went through chemo...now she's about 25% gray. So, I guess you never know when it'll happen to you.

You're not. My daughter has had a few since she was 5.

I got my first gray hair when I was pregnant and had just turned 36. It was kind of funny, because that's exactly when my dad said he thought I'd start graying. (I plucked it.) After the pregnancy, a whole bunch of hairs came in gray, including some in my eyebrows!!! Egad. I'm still processing that. My hair's kind of dark blonde/light brown and gets nice highlights from the sun, so for now the gray blends in ok. This winter I'll probably have to start dying it. I'm pretty clueless about hair stuff, so this will be interesting.

I got my first gray hair at age 50. I have about 10 gray hairs now and have not considered plucking then. I think this is an inherited trait.

PP here, I meant that the age at which you go gray is an inherited trait, not whether you will pluck them or not!

I had a few when I was 31. I was going through a lot of stress at the time. I plucked them and haven't seen any since then. (I'm 36).

noticed my first right before my wedding. @25/26. A few here and then until my daughter was born...and then they just got out of hand. I think I really CAN blame my kid for my grays!

I plucked...and plucked...and plucked. It was getting out of hand, and I finally started coloring this year (32). I am WAY too young to be gray, darn it!

I'm 39, none yet. Although neither of my parents had noticeable grays until their 50s.
