You completely lost the argument with the bolded. Being forced to avoid a restaurant, because people there want your death, is not remotely the same as having a choice to sit inside because you don't care for the dogs that are allowed on the patio. |

Either way, I'm forced to avoid the restaurant. Whether it's because of hateful people, or a dislike for unsanitary animals, the result is still the same - I'm forced to leave a place in have a right to be in. I detest dogs in restaurants, too. I won't eat at a place that allows dogs other than service animals, which is the law per the ADA. And I would walk out on a meal if someone were permitted to bring a pet dog in |
Sind Sie Deutscher? |
And no one would miss you or stop you. Isn't America great? |
| It PASSED! Sucks for all of you dog-haters. Seems you are in the (bitter) minority... |

With all of the important, some urgent, issues confronting the District of Columbia, dogs on restaurant patios needs to be the subject of emergency legislation?
DC is more like a parody of a city council. |
it's an emergency priority because DCs fastest growing ethnic population believe that they should be allowed to take their dog anywhere. Does anyone know if NYC, Boston, or other large cities have provisions for dogs at restaurants? |
| White people are ruining this city. |
| It's all fun and games until there's a dog fight. |
In another jurisdiction I saw a pit/mix lunge out to attack a person. A volatile issue - note Obama was against breed specific legislation - sadly there is nature that can't be changed by nurture. Bully breed advocacy has turned it into a racial issue. |
| How does the DOH allow this? Yuck. |
| This whole thing does seem like it's plucked from the pages of the Onion -- very much a parody. Unfortunately, it's the reality show known as the DC Council. In the midst of rising crime in certain neighborhoods, a dysfunctional critical medical care situation EOTR, crumbling infrastructure, too many failing schools, etc., the Council puts "dining with dogs" on its emergency legislation docket?! It seems like a joke, but the joke is the Council. |
| One could say that this is conclusive evidence that the D.C. Council has definitely gone to the dogs, but that would be a Captain Obvious belated understatement. |
| We recently went on a driving trip through New England.. Took our dog. Gone 3weeks. Stayed in hotels and B&Bs. Ate at restaurants that allowed dogs on the patio. Those were the only restaurants where we could go, (and spend our money) We weren't going to leave the dog unattended in a hotel room where she might bother people by barking. When she's with us she lays at our feet, quiet, no one is bothered. And many people smile and come over to speak to her. |
