^ of course there is a difference between a system of universities and a single university. The total system endowment does not benefit one university within the system but rather all of them. Yale's 25 billion is exclusively to the benefit of Yale for example. At Texas the 25billion do not all support the flagship school.

Btw many of the other Texas campuses were opened at the beginning/middle of the 20th century or even late 19th century. Did the endowment get so big back then that they had to spread the wealth?!
