DD's ES (W feeder school) kindergarten class had 27 kids and no assistant. DD loved her class and her teacher but it definitely wasn't ideal.
The teacher relied heavily on parent volunteers. I was in her class one day a week (every week) for five hours. It was exhausting but I knew that she REALLY appreciated the extra hands and having someone who worked well with the kiddos. |
Good grief! That's an over-and-above reliance on parent-volunteers. What is wrong with this country? We really don't care as much about education as we are constantly telling ourselves we do. |
Kudos to you and other parents who volunteer. Just curious, is there any kind of training or orientation parents have to do before they can volunteer? |
