| DC crime is outrageous. |
Anyone? |
I think the mayor is too busy worrying about how to build her pet homeless shelters to spare any attention to dangerous juvenile felons being let back out on the streets without so much as a slap on the wrist. |
| I spent a long time in DC. There are two things the government simply has never cared about-- crime and traffic safety. These are non-issues to DC Gov., and that probably won't change. |
Most voters also apparently don't care too much either considering the good citizens here keep voting in the same stripe of idiots that believe giving felons a stipend at the expense of the taxpayer is a great idea! |
Totally not PC but I think this is a huge part of the problem. There is always a big push to address the issue of a disproportionate number of black and Hispanic young men being locked up. |
Don't fail to consider the fact that in DC, ex-offenders and family members of offenders are quite numerous and council members know that. There's an old joke that in Iowa and Nebraska, politicians court the farm bloc. DC politicians court the cell block. |
| It's the youth who don't have fully formed frontal lobes that offend who are likely to reoffend if they are not rehabbed. Which they clearly are not under this improperly named act, as they are responsible for an alarming amount of repeat and escalating crime each time they are released. This act must be reformed. |
| Oh THANK GOD. Finally, some acknowledgment of the savage toll. Thank you for posting this. Let's follow this closely! Does anyone know anything about CouncilMember Charles Allen who sponsored the bill? His stock just went up. |

I remember another case: a DC man robbed a jewelry store in DC. They had his full face on camera.
Other crimes, too. D.C. Police never found him, never arrested him, don't know, if they even pursued this criminal at all. They had months to do something, but they didn't. Then the man decided to come over to Arlington to rob a jewelry store, and he murdered the owner. It was brutal, and family and community in shock. Arlington PD got the killer after only one week. Don't mess with the Arlington PD! But too late for the store owner, who could be alive, if the freaking D.C. Police knew how to do their job! And don't even get me started on all the brutal criminals that beat up people on metro, near the zoo, the punks on their dirt bikes terrorizing everyone, the list goes on and on. They always got their faces on camera - "we will come after you!" - yeah, right. We wish. |
| Even if he was arrested by MPD, I'm willing to bet that guy would've gotten a slap on the wrist. That's how much of a joke the courts are here. |
