We're supposed to trust THAT site?

lol I thought the same thing.

The terms of service say that you agree to use arbitration and can't join a class action suit against them. CFPB is cautioning people about using the site.

This!!!! Fuckers.

I doubt that will be enforceable.

There's a pretty informative thread on Reddit if you're interested:

How do we find out if our information has been stolen then?

I hate them. They're the lowest of the low.
Some new solid laws need to protect us.

Today I read that after the backlash, they've removed this from the ToS and it won't apply to anyone who signed up and just clicked Accept without reading.

So how do consumers pressure Equifax into covering more than just 1 year of monitoring and covering costs for credit freezes?

What exactly would you get in a class action suit anyway? The last time this kind of thing happened to me and there was a class action, I got $100. Oh wow,$100! I'm like almost not rich at all.

I hear you, I recently got a $3.20 check from settlement of a class action suit against Verizon.
I think (could be mistaken) it's more about the impact of the total amount on Equifax vs individual payout. If enough people join the suit, it ups the amount they end up having to pay.

Yeah not quite. They didn't do it out of any goodness of heart from "backlash." New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman Tweeted that his office spoke with them and made sure Equifax knew that little trick wasn't gonna fly.

According to the website, my son's personal information may have been impacted by the data breach. Have any others found this to be the case?

I'm beginning the process of verifying whether he actually has an active credit report, but I'm hoping that it's just an error.
