Private & Independent Schools
| Schizer ! |
| I hear the British International School has really gone downhill and is turning into Thugville. This would be a sign of that. |
OMG, just saw this on tv news! The 12 year old perp has diplomatic immunity! |
| This is horrific. Are there ongoing fights there? |
| She needs to be sent home and dealt with in their criminal justice system. |
|
Why was the child of a German diplomat even attending the British International School? The Deutsche Schule in Potomac is funded by the German government, teaches in German, and provides leaving qualifications necessary for German universities and apprenticeships. Why wouldn't she go there?
The screeching about diplomatic immunity is uninformed noise. This has been a concept for hundreds of years and is necessary if we want to protect Americans overseas--the flip side is that in demanding it for ourselves, we also have to extend it to others. The girl and her family can be expelled from the country and gotten out of society that way. Let the Germans handle it. |
My kids attended when it was known as British school. At that time there were lots of kids from all over. Perhaps one of the parents is British. Perhaps they live in Georgetown and don't want to commute to Potomac. Perhaps they don't like the German school? What does it matter? Fact is the there was a stabbing and we don't know yet what happened. Perhaps it was self defense or perhaps it was not. Let's wait and see. |
In Germany, the age of criminal responsibility is 14. Children younger than that are not charged with crimes, full stop. |
Good grief.
|
| I assumed the weapon was probably a pencil, but I just read that it was a pair of scissors and that she stabbed him twice. |
Agree. Has the school expelled her? |
If parent(s) are career diplomats, then every few years they move around, and few countries they'll be assigned to have a German School. Most likely, she's been in British or American schools (abroad) all her life. |
Then she wouldn't be criminally prosecuted. It doesn't negate the fact that she needs to be sent back to Germany. She violently assisted a child here. Our government can have her removed. |
No they can't if she has diplomatic immunity. |
They absolutely can. The family can be declared persona non grata under the Vienna Convention and they will have to leave the country. It's really the only punishment you CAN give to someone with diplomatic immunity. |
