Watching the eclipse was so much fun!

I really hadn't been paying much attention to all the hype, but went outside when some coworkers invited me. A lot of people from my office were outside and everyone was sharing glasses and taking turns watching. It was actually fun and even though we weren't in the path of totality, I still thought it was pretty cool to see.

We had fun and met a lot of nice people watching it in TN.

What eclipse? There was an eclipse? I hadn't heard about it.
Is there another one tomorrow?

We watched in TN and shared pur glasses with a family from upstate NY who forgot to buy glasses. It was so memorable and our kids have been talking about it the entire drive home.

Seeing the corona makes the bumper to bumper traffic, single lane construction zone, sudden rainstorm through Blacksburg/Roanoke and 3 hours too long drive completely worth it.

It must not have been cloudy in MD like it was in VA

Were you in the DC area?

It was great in Arlington, VA! The clouds and rain held off until after peak. Much better than I thought it would be here!

It was really fun on the roof of my office in the K Street area. Lots of people in good spirits, plenty of extra glasses to go around. Being on the roof was better since we had a good breeze up there, so it was significantly cooler than on the street level.

We had a perfect unobstructed southern view of the entire south horizon. Plus, the clouds in the sky cooperated. We all discussed how it would be fun to travel for the 2024 eclipse. I'm definitely considering going to Cleveland or Erie,PA for the eclipse.

Had a lot of fun with the kids at our backyard. We made pinhole projectors out of cereal boxes on Sunday and I also made a bigger pinhole projector out of our patio table to take pictures for my husband overseas. We shared one pair of eclipse glasses too. For the next eclipse I think we will travel to experience the totality.

We shared our glasses. We had 4 pairs and 7 people with us. Why not share.

We got about 80% in the DC area. It's amazing that it was still very bright out with 80% of the sun's rays. It dimmed just a bit for a while but interesting. i think we can survive on less sun. It would be cool to see totality.
As soon as it was over, the clouds rolled in and it rained but by that time we were in the metro so we missed the rain-that's good.

From 2 minutes of shadiness you "think we can survive on less sun". HAHA.

Totality was really neat and moving. I don't have words to explain it. The sun sets basically in a 360 view and the darkness comes and goes VERY rapidly. In regard to people commenting on how at 80/90% it's not very dark I suppose it's analogous to being in a dark room but there's a light on in the across the hall hall bath: it often lights up the room a lot with ambient light. Totality is a delineated experience that's not felt outside the band.

We will have driven a total of about 20 hours by the time we return and we also hiked up a good distance for a mountainous and clear 360 view. It was difficult for many reasons but worth it.

^ sorry the sun doesn't set but the sky exhibits the same colorful show. The lights quality is unlike anything I've seen. That's why I don't have words.

I had the exact same experience! My co-workers and I had such a wonderful time.
