Encouraged to apply for public assistance but feel weird about it

Knowing OP's penchant for drama, something about this just seems insincere and sort of icky.

Are you also pursuing child support from your husband who is a fed? I don't think you should be granted public assistance without being required to file for child support.

Unless you're making phenomenal tips (and in the beginning that may be hard) you qualify for assistance. Use it, get back on your feet, and then feel good that you are paying into the system to support someone in a similar position.

Yes I am, but because he's overseas I've been advised that it may be impossible to collect. Of course filing for child support was my first priority - I didn't think it would come to this.

What's with the eye roll? Have you read the other threads? Moving to western Maryland, with no support system in place, and going back to school for a nursing degree when she already has a bachelors degree. There were a lot of helpful posts in her most recent thread, most of which she seems to be ignoring.

Also she decided her husband was cheating because he looked at some porn, and he was financially controlling because he put her on a budget.

OP here. I have a bachelor's degree, which is part of my hesitation to use assistance! I lived overseas for my husband's career and my career stalled (obviously). But thanks for the helpful input.

If you have a bachelor's degree why don't you get a decent job?

I've sent out a ton of resumes, but have gotten no response.

Do you live in the DC area? If so, I'm not buying that for a second. There are so many jobs here. You're not being proactive enough and not trying hard enough.

What's your B.A. in, and how many years of experience in that field?

She lives in Western Maryland.

OP, you can't just blindly send resumes. Do you know anyone in your area? Do your parents know people? Are you on Linked In? Have you reached out to friends/old colleagues?

Her B.A. is in Communications. She moved to Cumberland, Maryland. Read the other threads; it's all there!

Yep, OP is a serial poster on here. She sounds totally nuts.
