If you could send your child to any out of state school (if money were no object)

Showed DC Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Hopkins, USC, Northwestern, UChicago. DC loved UChicago.

Showed DC Berkeley, Madison, Ann Arbor. DC loved Madison. Is saving UCSD for grad school.

Would have paid for any of these (and a few others that we researched but didn't visit -- e.g. McGill, UWashington -- Seattle).

State schools would include Berkeley (Cal), Michigan, UCLA, and perhaps Texas and Georgia Tech.

for us money is not a factor, but if you asked "...our of state school if student fit and ability to succeed were no object" I would choose Duke!

It has school spirit and great weather and us close enough ... and DH went there

I would send them to the colleges they got into, but looking at where they are now and where I can imagine they'd be best suited, I would send DS to Brown or Columbia and DD to HYP or William and Mary.

I'm assuming you're referring to state schools (otherwise, obviously, there's no difference in tuition based on where you live). I'd chose Michigan, hands down.

My DD got into Cal and UVA(in state) two years ago. She picked Cal.

They said "any out of state school"

You could also assume that includes privates, Canadian and overseas universities, if you weren't so narrow minded.

Good grief, Captain Literal - I'm pretty sure you know exactly what the OP was asking. Do you have a child? Will that child be going to college? Will you be paying his/her tuition? If yes, then you are *sending* your child to school. Splitting hairs is mighty tiresome.

Such a weird inquiry though. Why describe a school as out of state if you don't mean public university since that has a price component. It can't be distance related - I live in Bethesda so Georgetown (OOS) is 10 mins away while Hopkins (in state) is an hour. Why not say any school, which could certainly include universities outside the US.
