My brother does this, and he makes about $200k and works 3 out of 4 weeks a month.
Yeah agree. Either a nurse in California who is doing a LOT of overtime (CA pays the best pretty out of any other state in the US) or they're a nurse executive or a CRNA (nurse anesthetist). CRNA requires a lot more schooling and ICU experience. I'm a new grad nurse and will make about 45-50k this year without any overtime

My Aunt in CA is a Nurse anesthesiologist and makes approx 250k. She has been working for Kaiser for 25+ years. Though she dorsnt work much OT. She normally works 3 12s or 4 10s.

^^and i will also add that at 250k, shes not living large. The COL in CA is astronomical. To put it in perspective, she just sild her 1800sq foot standsrd suburban home for 1.5M. Moved into an attached home that's 1200sq feet, poor schools (but she doesn't care) for 890k.

The hours are undesirable for most people, but for me it works great. I have young kids and I'm home when they're awake and since I work opposite shifts as my husband, daycare costs have been pretty minimal.

This isn't even remotely possible.
So you're working something like 70 hours a week for 52 weeks a year at $72 an hour?
With report time, etc. you would be gone for 80 hours a week for 52 weeks a year with young children?
RIGHT. You're definitely working 16 hour days.

I call complete and utter BS on this. You are lying through your teeth.

My sister's salary is about that. She's a clinical nurse specialist (has a master's degree) with certifications in cardiac and critical care. Her role involves assessing nursing outcomes, keeping up on research on best practices, advising on care decisions, and training staff. It's a regular office hours type of job, not shift work.

I'm making 70k in DC a year and a half out of school. Not including overtime. Rotating schedule. Might be atypical.
