| Freedom Hill also dropped to a 5. I think it has less of an impact on the quality of education and more on real estate values |
| Shrevewood dropped to a 5 too. Not sure why. Nice area to live in but falling scores alarm me. |
Can you post the link for historical ratings? I couldn't find it. |
|
Look where it says "Academics" on the left. Then the overall rating is in the middle with "Test Scores". then to the right there is a blue click button that says "past ratings."
When the page first loads, it's just below the heading and sub-headings for "Environment". |
| Oakton ES going to Thoreau is not yet a fact. It is under a boundary study. |
Right, because Republican areas have the best schools. West Virginia? Alabama? Montana? |
Democrats own education and their policies are what keep messing everything up. It's not a regional thing. Democrats love mediocrity and dragging down any area of success to "create a level playing field". That's a fact. And as long as their kids aren't subjected to it, it's all good! -different poster |
That's an observation based on free-floating resentment rather than on facts. You must have worn that MAGA hat too long; it's cut off all the circulation. |
No, it's the truth. Democrats are in a constant state of panic over the need to "fix" stuff and everything they try to fix gets worse. The worst schools are in big cities where democrats are elected to run things. Nothing ever gets better, the crime rates go up, the poverty rates go up, the number of people on public assistance goes up, taxes go up, but there's still never enough money, and they keep electing democrats! And what do the democrats say? We need to fix the schools! Do they ever do anything to actually fix them? No. They want more and more money to fund programs that don't really help anyone. I've lived in enough places to know what I'm talking about. But go ahead and keep making Trump jokes. No, seriously, please keep it up. |
| Seems like the best schools are in Democratic states or areas - Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, suburban Philadelphia, Maryland, NoVa, Research Triangle, etc. The Republicans won't invest in public education so you end up with crappy public schools like in Alabama and Texas. I guess there's nothing to "fix" if your goal is just to push white kids into some backwater private "Christian" schools and ignore everyone else. |
You named wealthy areas where there are a lot of democrats. Pretty sure the fact that there's money and parents that value education is a bigger reason why the schools are better. Republicans won't invest in wasteful programs in public schools that won't benefit anyone because republicans are more responsible with other people's money than democrats are. The fact still remain that the democrats are in charge of the areas with the worst schools and they'll never fix anything. You really don't seem like you know what you're talking about. Which one is it? Are republicans too stupid and that's why the bad schools are in red states? Or are we greedy and racist and only send our kids to private Christian schools? Keep your talking points straight, or you just look like a hypocrite. Oh wait, you're a democrat. Of course you're a hypocrite. |
how do you explain Kansas and Oklahoma where they are strongly Republican states but they have cut funding so much the schools are only allowed to be open 4 days a week! |
Republicans are pretty stupid, now that you mention it. That's on display just about every single day now. In any event, here's a good example of what happens with public education in a Republican state: http://www.cnn.com/videos/cnnmoney/2017/07/24/tulsa-oklahoma-teacher-raises-money-for-classroom-on-roadside-orig-trnd-lab.cnn/video/playlists/stories-worth-watching/ |
| Clicked into this thread because I live in that zipcode. Clicking out because it's become a blue/red issue. Peace out. |
Answer: all of the above. |
