The last few appts late in pregnancy

OP here. I got through by phone to the office on Tuesday morning (first thing). They said the earliest they could see me is on Thursday, so I'm still waiting to be seen. Yes, they know how far along I am (it was the first thing the office person asked). I tried to press it but was told that the gap of almost two weeks would still be fine, and they couldn't fit me in sooner. Though to me at the moment it feels like an eternity. I went ahead and tested my own blood pressure at Harris Teeter, just in case. And my husband used a stethoscope he'd bought a while back, to try and hear the baby's heartbeat himself (not sure if what he heard was it or not, since he could hear it in many parts of the abdomen, and I never could make it out at all; he said it was very faint, but it was the right speed, about 150 beat/min). So that made me feel a bit better.

Though now, what I assume are practice contractions (tightening in my upper abdomen) are also becoming more frequent this afternoon ... so, I hope I actually do make it to the doc's tomorrow!! I'm not quite ready to have the baby yet!
