best time to vist Utah national parks?

For those of us with school age kids, how's the weather at spring break, i.e., late march to mid April?

Not Christmas but I've done Moab/Arches twice in early January. It was great. Cold, but most days only needed a jacket for hiking due to the sun.

We did this trip during spring break this year (mid-March) and the weather was incredible at both the Grand Canyon and Zion. My sister did it with her family the year before during the spring and it snowed at Zion and they left early because you couldn't do any of the hikes. My teens really loved this trip.

We are considering going the last week of September. Does anyone have any experience going that time of year?
