"Covering knees" to enter churches in Europe

I've been in a LOT of churches in Italy over the years and never once was I told that my skirt was too short. Shoulders should generally be covered, yes, but a normal length skirt is fine (aka not a mini skirt). My kids have always worn shorts/sundresses and never had a problem.

FYI - Italians do not wear shorts. If you see someone in shorts, they are typically not Italians. It is more of a fashion thing than a modest Catholic thing, though.
