Last day of schools, nobody at school.

Standard teacher response who hates BFES students. Sick obsession.

In MoCo many decades ago I remember being in 7th grade and afraid to skip the last day of school. I was an outliner, as hardly anyone else was there.

The "message" you are worrying about Op I understand the concern. Especially heading into HS and not knowing what awaits. School systems are not perfect and there are often mixed-messages re: expectation. FCPS seems to be very hung-up on signed "oaths" which I find the premise of to be repugnant.

My high schooler is at school.

I sent my kid in ES but I know my neighbors don't go and they are in MS and ES.

I kind of agree about the message but they're not really doing anything anyway so I have no issue with letting DC stay home. Maybe plan a day at the museum if you feel guilty so that DC is kind of doing something enriching?

That's not true, there are tons of kids out today from Beverly Farms. Most have scheduled vacations, but the school has at least 1/3 of the kids missing. It was completely obvious at drop of this morning.

They're learning nothing today... most kids have a half day.

They told them to bring EVERYTHING home with them yesterday, what exactly are they learning?

My kids teacher told them that they can do yearbook signing or will watch a video on the overhead, that's it.

The Beverly Farms poster is kidding. Those kids are probably already at summer camp in Maine. (also kidding)

Bahahahaha!
Did you count each student as they walked in?

There is absolutely NO learning going on today... keep telling yourself that though.

No, she's not kidding... we know exactly who she is (every parent at that school does).

My sophomore asked to stay home today, and I told him he had to go. I'd guess around 2/3 of kids skipped. I don't think he learned anything, but I'd make the same decision again. If school is in session, what's the justification for not going?

There is no learning on the final half day if the day before was spent having parties and consuming ice cream, as it was at my kids ES.

Total. Waste. Of. Time.

I'm one of the PPs. Just got the report from my daughter in high school. There were probably like 10 kids or less in each class. The teachers had nothing for them to do, did not prepare anything, yet made a big deal out of taking attendance, which annoys me. Why make a big deal out of taking attendance and then no do your part as a teacher to prepare a lesson or something to do. My daughter left early.

DS just came home..10-15 kids per class. Not a single teacher had an activity. Several said they were grading papers..

5th graders at our ES were excused after the promotion yesterday. My child's teacher expressly asked them not to come. A handful of 5th graders did go in today. The younger grades were there though.

I've heard of colleges rescinding acceptances based on failing to show up for the last day. Just kidding. I guess.
