You've got to be kidding me? Do you think FCPS only has extremely bright children? All 200 some schools? Every school has bright kids and also kids who struggle. |
| What level? ES/MS/HS? Any special experiences that some schools might value? Some schools have special interest areas - stem, arts, expeditionary, IB, immersion, iPads, etc. You can look through individual schools to see what's the best fit and talk to the administration there directly. |
But but but... how do you teach without all the Asians? |
| FCPS pays more than APS... |
| What are you talking about? |
| Everyone is making teaching around her sound so delightful. ? |
The opposite is true |
|
My daughter was offered a position with APS several years ago as a first year teacher. But she didn't get the offer until mid-summer. She turned it down for ACPS. Better pay.
I wouldn't give up. Schools are still shuffling numbers right now. |
It's not. Look it up |
https://patch.com/virginia/mclean/fcps-teacher-salaries-are-not-competitive-survey-reveals-0 Even though FCPS increased their pay scales a year ago, the steps on the salary scale have smaller increments. Therefore, even if a first year teacher in FCPS makes a couple thousand dollars more than a first year teacher in APS, by step 10, an APS teacher will make 7-8K more depending on their education level. |
| ALs teachers get contracts this week and have to sign by next Friday. More postings likely coming once those leaving make it official. |
Nice try. |
Sigh. That article is from 2015. Instead, try looking at the pay scale from the districts' websites. APS: http://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Pay-Plan-16-17-Updated-05-01-17.pdf FCPS: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/FY17-260-day-teacher_1.pdf |
