Your anecdotal experience of one public ES and one private MS makes you the expert in all things public and private? Wow. Surely, you know that there are variations of both. |
| Teacher here. I would definitely acknowledge it with your child by praising the effort it took to consistently earn good grades. My experience is that MS performance is not always indicative of HS performance because the workload increases and some students are better at juggling multiple demanding classes than others, but honor this achievement for what it is without using it as a barometer of things to come. That just makes kids more anxious and unwilling to take chances and try new things. Always praise effort over achievement to encourage trying hard things instead of succeeding at easy things. |

My son's APS middle school had six kids with 3years of straight As. It is an accomplishment.
High school is virtually a clean slate. Those middle school As don't matter for college, but they do suggest your kid is a bright one who works hard. Mazel Tov. |
