If your babysitter has to travel in an uber with your kids, would you pay for the uber?

When I was 16 I was put under and had all my wisdom teeth cut out. About six hours after the surgery, I (regrettably and embarrassingly) started a fistfight with my dad after my complete refusal to lay down and rest while heavily hopped up on hydrocodone. Knowing this, I'd give the poor girl a day or two off.

I had my wisdom teeth out as a 21 year old. I was definitely not in any shape to work or care for children for the rest of the day. I think I was strung out on Oxy in my bedroom for the rest of the day.

I started throwing up profusely. Bad reaction to the anesthesia. I also kept asking where the UPS man was. I was out of it.

OP, just hire a drunk from the local bar to watch your kids. Probably cheaper and a probability of the same results!

Yes of course

Please give us all the number of this babysitter because she sounds amazingly conscientious, and I would hire her in a second and treat her better than you do.

Agreed. I can't believe you care so little about her that you want her to work. You clearly don't care about her as a person.

This is completely crazy. First of all, if she receives sedation, they will not allow her to leave the office without being accompanied by a responsible adult. I had mine out when I was 23 and had to bring my mother with me.

Second of all, she will be in no condition to babysit. My 19-year-old brother was so gorked after his procedure that HE needed a baby-sitter. He was so loopy he couldn't stand up, but he couldn't remember it or understand it when we explained it to him. We literally had to have eyes on him at all times for 2+ hours to keep him from trying to get up and faceplanting on the living room floor. He became frustrated trying to watch Simpsons reruns because he couldn't follow the plot. That is how addled he was. He was incapable of being responsible for himself, let alone someone else.

Third, even if she is not totally whackadoo (I was much more compos mentis post-op than my brother was), if she does not rest, she will probably get dizzy and sick and may vomit. I made that mistake because I felt pretty good and paid for it miserably.

You are crazy. I hope this is a troll.

Oh bullshit. My coworker had all FOUR wisdom teeth taken out one morning recently, and she just walked right out and came to work. She is in her mid 20's. Plus, you DO know adults can sign out of a hospital AMA, right? And this isn't even a hospital.

It depends on the type of anesthesia used.

Depends on the wisdom teeth removal. If it can be done by a dentist with local, then that's possible but difficult (easier when you're younger for sure).

If it's more complicated, like teeth are near your jaw, you need an oral surgeon and you'll be put under (twilight-level at least).

I've had both types done for wisdom teeth. The latter and I was done for the whole day. The surgeon's office policy was only to release me to an adult (not an Uber), and I understand why.

Oh my fucking god. Are you really suggesting the babysitter sign out AMA (which btw insurance won't pay for the claim if a patient goes AMA in most cases) because OP is too fucking cheap to give her the day off or pay for an uber?!?!?!
Please tell me you are not OP.

Op here, I'm not the parent in this situation. Writing on behalf of a friend. She is a nanny for a family and 2 wisdom teeth are suddenly causing her pain and were found to be impacted. They are going to remove all 4. I told her to just take the day off but she says the mother has several important things going on.

Then the mother needs to find another sitter for that day.

Tell the mom tough titty. She will not be able to work.

I would give her uber to my house and then take the afternoon off and take care of her and the kids.

Offer to take the kids instead of being a busy-body.
